Children in Gaza need urgent humanitarian aid. Help UNICEF scale up its response
Thousands of children have been displaced, injured, killed or have been caught in the fighting that has engulfed Gaza and Israel. Children on both sides continue to pay the highest price for the violence.
The rights of every single child, no matter who or where they are, must be protected. As the ceasefire takes place, UNICEF is moving water, hygiene kits , nutrition and winter clothing into Gaza. Hundreds more trucks are waiting to enter. Parties must ensure safe, unimpeded access for aid and humanitarians so supplies finally reach all children everywhere.
The scale of humanitarian need is enormous. This ceasefire must finally give humanitarian agencies a chance to safely roll out the massive response that is so desperately needed inside the Gaza Strip. Hostilities have left up to 1.9 million people displaced. Hunger and disease — including the resurgence of polio — threaten children’s lives. As winter enters it's deepest period, children and families, already grappling with loss and displacement, will also have to face strong winds, freezing temperatures, and heavy rains without adequate shelter or warmth.
