Your gift will be MATCHED to help children in Lebanon
The situation in Lebanon has continued to deteriorate. Escalation of hostilities has intensified amid the broader Middle East Conflict. Since March 2, over 2,200 people have been reportedly killed including more than 177 children and over 1.1 million people—including more than 412,000 children—have been displaced.
All children have the right to live without the threat of conflict and violence. UNICEF welcomes the 10-day ceasefire that began on April 17 and hopes it offers a crucial chance to protect children and families who have suffered greatly. We reiterate the UN Secretary General’s call for everyone to fully respect the ceasefire and comply with international law. Children need more than a pause in hostilities; they need a real chance to recover.
The current escalation has forced schools to close across the country, disrupting education for an estimated 1 million children. Children and families are living under constant threat of attacks, increasing risks to their physical safety, well-being and access to essential services.
For 70 years, UNICEF has stood with Lebanon’s children and families and is rapidly scaling up its emergency response to reach those affected by this crisis with desperately needed assistance—but we can’t do it alone.
