Help bring lifesaving aid to children in the Middle East
The recent surge in violence and attacks in the Middle East – including in Iran, Lebanon and Yemen – is taking a toll on children’s lives. Children have been killed and injured while homes, schools, hospitals and other civilian facilities and infrastructure have been destroyed or damaged.
Children must never be targets in any conflict, by any party. UNICEF urgently calls on all parties to uphold their obligations under international law and to ensure the protection of civilians, in particular children.
This escalation comes at a time when families in the Middle East have already endured years of economic hardship, displacement and insecurity. There are about 200 million children in the region and over half of them live in a country affected by conflict prior to the current escalation. Today, nearly 46 million children across the Middle East urgently need humanitarian assistance.
UNICEF has been present in the Middle East for over 70 years, and we are ready to scale up support for children and families where it is needed most. But we can’t do it alone.
Your donation to UNICEF helps ensure we can respond immediately in the region using pre‑positioned supplies and local teams to reach children fast.
Your gift today will help continue our lifesaving work helping children and families throughout the Middle East, including:
- In Iran, UNICEF is delivering prepositioned health supplies, expanding mental health support, strengthening child protection services and supporting safe water and sanitation.
- In Syria, UNICEF is helping families who are returning or displaced, providing mobile health and nutrition services and sharing safety messages to reduce the risks from explosive ordnance.
- In Lebanon, UNICEF is supporting children and families on the move, focusing on collective shelters and vulnerable host communities, with Rapid Response Teams deployed.
- In Yemen, UNICEF is delivering lifesaving support for the most vulnerable people, including health, nutrition, water and sanitation, protection and education services, while strengthening local systems and communities.
